The Blessing - When God Says "Yes"

Scripture:

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

— James 1:17

Additional Reading: 1 Samuel 1:27 • 1 Kings 18:36–38 • Isaiah 38:5 • Mark 10:52 • Acts 12 • John 14:13 • Psalm 103:2 • Luke 12:48

Intro:

We spend a lot of time talking about waiting on God.

About trusting Him in silence.

About holding on when prayers seem unanswered.

But what about the moment when God finally says yes?

What happens when the thing you prayed for actually arrives?

When You Get What You Prayed For

You waited.

You stayed faithful.

You prayed—sometimes with confidence, sometimes through exhaustion, sometimes through tears. And then, God answered.

Scripture reminds us that God is not distant or indifferent. Hannah prayed, and God entrusted her with a son. Elijah prayed, and fire fell from heaven. Hezekiah prayed, and God extended his life. Bartimaeus cried out, and Jesus restored his sight.

God still answers prayers.

But His yes is not the end of the story—it is the beginning of stewardship.

Answered prayer always points upward. It brings glory to God, strengthens faith, reveals His kindness, and becomes a testimony for others. Yet every blessing also carries responsibility. Jesus reminds us that “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded” (Luke 12:48).

When God says yes, He is trusting you.

And when seasons of silence return—as they often do—yesterday’s answer becomes today’s anchor. It reminds us of God’s character when our emotions waver and our circumstances grow quiet.

So when your prayer is answered, don’t rush past gratitude. Praise the Giver, not just the gift. Bless the Lord and do not forget all His benefits.

Every answered prayer flows from a faithful Father who is near, generous, and unchanging.

Heart Application:

God’s “yes” is not permission to relax—it is a call to respond.

Ask yourself:

  • Am I honoring God with what He has given me?

  • Am I stewarding the blessing in a way that reflects gratitude and obedience?

  • Am I allowing past answers to strengthen my faith when current prayers feel unanswered?

Living faithfully after the answer is just as important as believing before it.

Reflection Questions

  • What is one prayer God has clearly answered in your life, and how has it changed your responsibility?

  • Have you taken time to thank God for His answers, or have you grown accustomed to the blessing?

  • How can you allow yesterday’s answered prayer to anchor your faith during seasons of silence?

Closing Prayer

Father God,

thank You for every good and perfect gift You have given me. Help me never forget where my blessings come from. Teach me to steward Your answers with humility, gratitude, and obedience. Let my life always point back to You, whether I am waiting or rejoicing.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
